Project 1
The Bakehouse
App
Our Bakehouse app will let users place special cake orders online which will affect all users wishing to order a cake online by offering different options for cakes. We will measure effectiveness by how many orders are placed online for special order cakes.

User Research: Summary
Our research was an unmoderated usability study that took place remotely in the United States. The sessions took place from May 19-20,2023. We had a total of ten participants, with each session taking about 10 minutes each. Participants were between the ages of 18 and 65 and reside within 45 minutes of the Bakehouse location, and were across the spectrum of genders with different abilities.
We wanted to see what specific difficulties users encountered when trying to place an order for a special cake on the app. Our assumptions were that it would be fairly easy to follow the steps to place the order but we needed to add the multiple options for decorations that are offered, instead of just adding a text box for the customer to describe the cake they wanted.
Common Icons
Use more common icons / buttons that customers are more familiar with in other apps.
Enlarge Icons
Login icon needs to be made larger. We will make sure that the icons are more readable.
Buttons for Decorations
Text box for the customer to fill in a description of the cake - they would like - was a pain point and participants wanted to see individual buttons for all of the offerings.
Confirm Order
Participants wanted to see a page that allowed them to confirm the order or go back to make changes before submitting the order. We will make sure that there are review steps added.
